Logitech G29 for PS4 and G920 for Xbox One Announced

Logitech G29 Driving Force

After a bunch of leaks, Logitech has officially confirmed not only the leaked G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 but the Logitech G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel for the Xbox One as well.  Both will be PC compatible.  The G29 will go on sale in July while the G920 will come out in October.

As the video shows, Logitech is sticking to the tried and true helical gearing of the dual-motor force feedback system that’s used in the G27.  This news may come with a bit of disappointment from the community who were hoping for further development, such as going to a belt driven system.  It will be interesting to see how much more performance Logitech was able to get out of the legacy system over the G27.

The only visual difference between the G29 and G920 is the lacking of the two large round buttons on the G920.  While the G29 features the useful up/down button on the left side and the more useful rotary dial on the right, the G920 receives neither.  Have to say that I would be a little miffed if I was an Xbox One owner.

The pedals also appear to be primarily carried over from the G27.  Logitech is talking up the improved non-linear brake pedal on the G29 and G920, so we’ll have to see how much of an improvement that yields.

As previously rumored, the six speed shifter that was included in the G25 and G27 package will now be sold as a stand alone add-on.  The Driving Froce Shifter truly does appear like a re-branding of the G27 shifter.  Even worse, it loses the directional button and four independent buttons of the G27 shifter.  As someone who uses those buttons a lot on their G27, that stinks.

The shifter will retail for $60, while the G29 and G920 wheel and pedal set will retail for $400.

It’s good to see Logitech back and supporting all the platforms.  Hopefully we’ll find out more about the upgraded wheels next week at E3 and why Logitech believe they can compete with the likes of the Thrustmaster T300 at that price point.

If you have any questions about the new wheels leave them below so Darin can ask Logitech when he meets with them at E3.

  1. Well at least they are both pc compatible. The shifter looks pretty much like the G25 style, not exact, but hard to tell from a picture.

  2. This is a little disappointing. I was considering this but luckily for me I picked up a T300RS for $300 CDN because it was an open box. Next gen console racers are really being gouged

    1. Hilariously, the base is malfunctioning and itll be a return or hopefully thrustmaster offers to fix it for me

yes, i´m going to buy a T300, was hopping to pay max of $300 on g29. $400 plus shifter is to mutch

  4. They have missed their window. If they released it last month when Thrustmaster run out of stock they would of sold loads but not next month when the T300 will be back in stock, I’m expecting a dramatic price drop in the G29 about 6 weeks after release.

  5. As a former long-time DFGT user, the G29 would have been a fantastic upgrade… 2 or 3 years ago. I’ve since moved on to Thrustmaster and have no regrets about doing so. Logitech have seriously missed the boat with this. Shame really because it looks like a really nicely thought-out design.

The pedal set is to much better than the t300. So if you put all the aspects in the equation, the G29 at $400 bucks its right. For $460 you have a complete set., with H shifter. How much cost this same set in Thrustmaster?

I must say this is the end of logitech in terms of sim racing wheels…
Realy shame on you, it looks like they join the spares pieces of the g27 and the dfgt and glue it to make this wheel and double the price? unbelivable…..

  8. I wish Logitech would’ve come to the market sooner as I would’ve probably purchased their wheel over the competition. I think they set the MSRP a little too high, $300 would’ve been just right. I’m sure Amazon will sell the wheel cheaper than the MSRP but the target audience would have to wait for a sale.
