MAK-Corp has released the third car in their F1 Classics mod, the 2004 Williams FW26 as driven by Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher. Featuring a 3.0L V10 engine, outputting 900 horsepower at a staggering 19,000 RPM, the FW26 has been regarded as one of the best sounding and most powerful cars of F1’s V10 era.
The FW26 also had a very unique “Walrus nose”, to allow more air under the car. Preseason tests proved the unconventional design was fast, however as the season progressed, Williams struggled. Both cars were limited to running in the upper mid-pack. Ralf Schumacher was also sidelined for six races due to an accident at the US Grand Prix. At the Hungarian Grand Prix, Williams brought out a redesigned car, with a more conventional nose, to more success. Williams finished the season strong, with Montoya taking the checkers at Brazil.
You can download the FW26 from MAK-Corp’s forum post or from MediaFire. Note that it is currently at version 0.2, and more updates will be coming in the near future. What car would you like to see in the F1 Classics Mod? Let us know in the comments.
