It seems like Sector3 Studios is making content releases for RaceRoom a weekly happening now, which is more than welcomed by the community. This week, not one, not two, not three, but five new cars have been added to the game. Apart from that, RaceRoom has also received new update.
The cars
As a follow-up to the 2015 pack, Sector3 studios has now released the full 2016 FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) line-up. This includes the following cars.
- Honda Civic WTCC 2016 (5 liveries)
- Citroen C Elysee WTCC 2016 (5 liveries)
- Volvo S60 Polestar TC1 (3 liveries)
- Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 2016 (5 liveries)
- Lada Vesta WTCC 2016 (3 liveries)
Although the Volvo is clearly positioned as the star of the show, it is refreshing to see a Lada appear as official content in a racing game.
The cars can be purchased on their own, all together in the WTCC 2016 pack or in the WTCC Experience pack, which also includes the 2015 cars and all the tracks of the season.
The update
The stand-out feature of this week’s update is clearly the addition of flag rules to RaceRoom. If you want to know how these were implemented, you can head here.
Apart from that, the update includes various fixes and smaller things that needed taking care of. There are still some things worth mentioning though. For instance, when driving in VR, a cropped image of the left eye can now be displayed on your primary monitor.
Penalties have been adjusted too. For example, when cutting the track, the penalty system now actually takes the distance you skipped into account and adjusts the penalty accordingly.
A full list of the changes can be viewed on the second page of this post.
The Volvo in action
If you want to see the 2016 WTCC in action, you can check out the video above by Sector3’s Georg Ortner, who did a great job of taming the Swedish beast on the Nordschleife.
