RaceRoom: New Car Packs and Previews

Sector3 Studios had a busy week with two new(ish) packs and previews of one of their upcoming tracks for RaceRoom Racing Experience (R3E).

Lets start with the packs.  The GTR2 Pack features the brand new CTS-V.R and 39 new liveries across the BMW M3 GT2, Chevrolet Corvette C6R GT2, RUF RT12R and CTS-VR.  Unlike the brand new CTS-VR, the M3, Corvette and RT12R are cars that were already available in the sim.  The selling point of the pack is that you receive a 63% discount by buying the pack versus the individual cars.

The second pack of the week was the American Track Pack.  The pack features Mazda Laguna Seca, Mid Ohio, Indianapolis and Sonoma Raceway. Like the GTR2 Pack, this pack is another discount pack for those who currently do not own the content.  Buying these tracks in pack form nets you a 60% savings over the individual purchases.

Along with the packs, Sector3 released a handful of pics of another track in development, Shanghai International Circuit, site of this weekend’s Formula 1 Grand Prix.  Shanghai joins a bit of a growing list of work in progress tracks for R3E, including the Nordscheife and Macau.  The 5.45 km (3.38 mile) Shanghai Circuit has hosted Formula 1 races since its completion in 2004, and in my opinion, is one of the few good Hermann Tilke designed tracks.

No word on when Shanghai will be released besides ‘soon’.  Also no word on if a ‘smog’ version will be available…

  1. Really like the CTS-VR, but the sound inside does have a bit of a high pitch whine in the cockpit that just does not sound right. It is a great handling car and it runs great too. I already had all of the other cars and track, so it was a cheap update for me.

  2. With the update to the physics and FFB along with the addition of the Cadillac and all the liveries, this GTR2 class is really filling out nicely.

But, is it wrong of me to want them to hurry up with the release of the Gr5 cars? 🙂

  3. TheFourHorsemen

    GTR2 pack:

Liveries and special aside….you will pay 3231 vrp (around 36$ cad) for 4 cars…

    9$ cad per car…..wow!

    1. But the price shown is 1199 VRP, which is only about $13 and, of course, if you happen to already own one of the cars, it’s even cheaper. I only needed to buy the Cadillac because I had the BMW, C6R and the Ruf. So, the cost for that Caddy and all the new liveries for all the other cars only cost me a little over $4.

  4. Raceroom has an always “on sale” marketing model, so you never pay the so called full price. I would recommend against it but at the end you know what you’re gonna pay so it doesn’t matter much, and even lowers if you already got content in possession.

So the calculation of thefourhorsemen is not correct.

R3E has a lot coming soon, keep an eye on it. Next big thing should be the dedicated servers. This sim gets better and better and at the end of 2015 it will be a real contender for everything out there.
