After some scheduling inquires on the iRacing forums brought to light that the Aston Martin DBR GT1 is coming to the sim next season, the staff decided it was time to share a render with us. While its only in ‘clay’ form, you can clearly see the spectacular lines of one of the best GT cars to ever grace the track.
The DBR9 is part of at least two Aston Martin’s licensed by iRacing back in September of last year, with the Vantage GT3 being the other.
While iRacing already has plenty of road series, the DBR9 won’t add to the clutter as it will be virtually racing against its real world arch nemesis, the Chevrolet Corvette C6R. The C6R has been going it solo in its own series, which hasn’t been that well supported. But I’m sure the ability for fans of both brands to go head-to-head against each other will greatly up the participation.
Maybe iRacing can scan the equally beautiful Lola-Aston Martin B09/60, add it, the HPD P2 and Ford GT3 to the series and call it Le Mans Circa 2009?
Looking forward to doing a bunch of laps in the new A-M’s… Not a bad idea there for another grouping. I just would like to see the HPD moved somewhere else, it is just too dominant. Just my opinion though.
Wow! Now add a Maserati MC12 GT1 and it’s an all-star competition for iRacing!
(although I’m quite sure this future release will be more than able to revamp the interest in the GT1 class – after all it’s fairly ‘felt’ the competition between Chevrolet buddies and Aston Martin folks 😉 )
