Sector3 Studios teased us with a cloud point image of the Nürburgring Nordschleife at the tail end of 2014 and now eight months later the first in-game image of the track has appeared. Now, it isn’t much of an image – Are their paparazzi scouting out the Sector3 office? – but it does show that it is at least being worked on.
The “Green Hell” will be the first laser scanned track for RaceRoom, which is nice to see. With other notable laser scanned versions out there or coming, it’s almost a must to compete. It also helps that all the laser scanning at the Ring is done by one vehicle so it’s not like you have to go out there and invest in an expensive laser scanner.
Sector3 has remained mum on a potential release date but it appears like they still have a ways to go. You have to wonder if the new-ness of creating a track from a point cloud will slow down the development processes or actually make it easier. 13 miles of driving heaven don’t just model themselves you know.

Sector3 tends to have decent tracks and I have not seen a copy of the ‘Ring that was bad by the time it was officially released. Always look forward to a new copy of it.
Yes, I have confidence that S3S will do an excellent job with this. Very much looking forward to it.
Sweet I can’t wait
