On numerous occasions I have been asked about sim racing systems from those with disabilities that limit their ability to use their legs or feet to drive or in our case sim race. To date I have seen a few options, but this one seems to be the best I have come across. Introducing Simatok and their new Paraplegic Sim Racing System. They are a company based in Switzerland who build full motion simulators. They have collaborated with Duqueine Engineering a Blancpain Racing team that pilots Ferrari 458 Italias and PIMAS who for over 30 years have installed and adapted systems for the disabled to drive a variety of vehicles.
They have it setup so there’s a throttle system on the front of the wheel where from the looks of this video, you use your left hand to accelerate by modulating the rim of the system. Then there’s two standard paddle shifters on each side that are static and handle the shifting. Then they are using an analog hand brake to handle the braking functions. The website and video above don’t mention the wheel base they are using to handle the force feedback and I couldn’t tell by watching. If someone knows what it is, please tell us in the comments below.
Nothing listed as far as pricing or availability since I assume it’s a brand new product.
For information, you should contact Edouard Fatio at Simatok and his email is info@simatok.ch
