Thrustmaster has revealed a new wheel for the Xbox One, this time catering towards the entry-level market. The 458 Spider Racing wheel will be a full featured racing wheel, officially licensed by Ferrari, in the sub-$100 price range.
The 7/10 replica (11-inches in diameter) wheel will feature a bungee cord system, providing linear resistance through the 240 degrees of rotation. The wheel also features all the buttons for use on the Xbox One, including the Xbox Guide button, 9 action buttons, a two-position manettino dial, and a D-pad on the engine start button. The wheel also features a Kinect LED for controller pairing.
The 2-pedal set on the 458 Spider can also be adjusted to suit the drivers preferences. The brake pedal also features progressive resistance to provide a realistic feel from a budget set.
With a MSRP of $99.99 and release date of April 14th, 2014, the Thrustmaster 458 Spider Wheel is poised to provide a great solution for the Xbox One racer looking for a more realistic experience than a gamepad, but doesn’t want to shell out $300+ on a high-end racing wheel. For more information on the wheel, you can check out Thrustmaster’s official page. What do you guys think of the wheel?

Just like the 458 Italia Xbox 360 wheel which means that it’ll be a piece of garbage…
Let’s face it….it would definitely be better than an xbox controller, and for just $40.00 more i think it would be well worth it….especially for an entry level sim-driver …besides we need more affordable products on the market so that more people get exposure to sim-racing and help the sim-racing community grow…….so i WELCOME this “piece of garbage”
I agree with you 100% dimitry.. Would like to see the haters produce a product that can retail for less than $100 and draw more sim racers into our genre.
It’s such a shame that Logitech is in Sony’s pocket. There’s no competition for Thrustmaster. What ever happened to Fanatec’s Xbox wheels? Have they given up?
Thats a great question. I think it may have had something to do with the last products they produced that had a Microsoft license attached to it.
Hey Darin, I’m new to sim racing and I’ve been on here a couple of months. I’ve learnt that your not a fan of fanatec products but I’m thinking of buying a csw with both rims. The reason being is I have had a thrustmaster tx that I’ve had for 3 months now it was the first piece of equipment I purchase. It overheated twice in the first week with barely any force feedback or use, 15 laps of Bathurst and it shut down for 2 hours. It overheats at least once a week. But now it takes 20 minutes to get it working. Unplugging and plugging it back in about 100 times before it will recognise. Thought it was my pc but I’ve tried it with 5 computers and same thing. It also had a lot of shaft play and rattles a great deal. Now because I live in oz and won this wheel in a prize I have to ship it away at my own cost to get fixed. 7 of my friends also have the same wheel for forza and they have all had issues, one is on his 4th wheel. I know this is the main wheel you use now and I doesn’t seem like you have had any issues.
I have the fanatec css sq and the csp v2 pedals and they have been great for the 3 months and haven’t missed a beat. 2 of my friends have the csw for over a year and haven’t had any major issues either. The only person I know that have had and issue was through a friend and he had his csw base fixed by fanatec aus and had it back within a week.
I want to take the plunge with a csw but everything I read on this sight says don’t. Please enlighten me.
I wouldn’t say I’m not a fan of Fanatec products. Just not a fan of the way they do business. The CSW can be a great wheel if you don’t get one with motor issues. I would also send that TX wheel in for replacement or repair. I have two here that have never had that problem.
Thanks Darin. I will still send the tx wheel back and get it repaired so I at least have a spare wheel and one to use with xbox. Going through forums I have heard more issues with tx than the csw and it’s only been out a couple of months. But that might be because sales might be higher on this wheel as is cheaper and the only wheel on xbox
Logitech isn’t in Sony’s pocket. They aren’t making any new console peripherals. They are still making PC peripherals and many of them such as the G27 also happen to work on PS2 and PS3.
Affordable options are always great in my book. Someone like my dad is curious about iRacing but he doesn’t want to put much money into it at first. While these aren’t PC compatible at the moment, the price point is just about right for someone like him.
I’ve been curious about Fanatec also. Unrelated to the Xbox One, Fanatec has been silent on their blog and Facebook for months. I wonder what is going on with them. I’ve considered saving up money for a CSW or T500-RS since I have a PS4 but I’m very leery of Fanatec at the moment. Usually they aren’t this silent on their blog and Facebook for this long.
Is this new wheel gonna be able to drive with any racing game on the xbox one
