Audi Quattro Coming to Assetto Corsa

Kunos Simulazioni, developers of Assetto Corsa, have announced that the Audi Quattro will be coming to the title in a future ‘Bonus Pack’.  The announcement yesterday on the Assetto Corsa Facebook page doesn’t give a whole lot of information so its time to fire up the speculation machine!

But first, some history.  The Audi Quattro was the first all-wheel drive (AWD) for Audi, setting the course for the brand for the past 30+ years.  It was produced from 1980-1991 and featured three different inline five-cylinder turbocharged engines (unique, eh?).  The Facebook post doesn’t say what year the car is but the vented hood didn’t show up until 1983, so that narrows down the range.

While the production car was never a sales hit – only sold 664 units between ’83-’86 in the U.S. – its legacy was made in World Rally were the A1, A2, S1 and S1 E2 race car’s AWD destroyed the rear-wear dive competition.  I wouldn’t mind seeing one of those cars in Assetto Corsa…

Now for speculation.  Assetto Corsa has made a good number of announcements about new cars coming to the title.  This includes nine Lamborghinis (still can’t believe that), Mercedes-AMG GT3, Nissan GTR (road version teased on Facebook), Fordssix Toyotas and now the Audi Quattro.  For those keeping score at home, that’s at least 19 cars.  That’s a lot of cars.  So what’s the plan?

If I had to guess, a whole bunch of car packs.  Some of the packs may be manufacturer specific.  There could easily be stand alone ‘Lamborghini Pack’ and ‘Toyota Pack’.  Maybe this ‘Bonus Pack’ will be a catch all for the other manufacturers?

Even though I’m always excited to try out new cars, I really hope Kunos is working on new tracks to drive them on as well.  There are only so many times I can drive Spa and The Ring (I know, heresy).

  1. I agree they need more tracks, I am tired of Mugello and Vallelunga myself. Fine tracks all, but there are so many great tracks around the World to add. Laguna Seca, Road America, COTA, Interlagos… Too many to list. But I will love trying some more cars, especially supercars and racecars.

  2. Would love to see the rally versions in the game, especially the group B one. But hey, I’m not complaining – even the road car is epic. And yeah needs more tracks although personally I’m still glued to the Nordschleife.

  3. Hey Guys , Do you know if Assetto Corsa still has AI capability and If so , is there a Hot Key or Shortcut to enable it ?
    Thanks !
