It’s amazing how awesome our community is! In our forums, we can see people taking ideas that we’ve suggested over the years, and run wild with them, to amazing results. This time, we see member smithhayward taking inspiration from our Deathmobile cockpit, and taking it to the next level! The result? The “AwesomeSauce Mark II Sim Racing Rig”, a truly unique rig that lives up to its name.
smithhayward first started designing sketches on paper, but then transferred his concept to AutoDesk Inventor for Mac OSX. He found a seat from a Chrysler 200 from his local junkyard, and put it on his rig. He uses a Thrustmaster TX wheel and pedal set on his rig, and he put a diamond plate foot rest for the pedals.
The AwesomeSauce Rig Mk II features 4 areas of adjustibility:
1. Seat moves forward and back.
2. Pedals move forward and back.
3. Steering Wheel moves up and down (at an angle, kind of like a real car).
4. Portable (as in, room to room) via locking casters, so it can be “put away”.
He even was able to make some logos for the side of the cockpit (note that his 6-year-old children also helped with the design, hence the Barbie logo). However, I’m noticing that he is missing an Inside Sim Racing logo. Message to smithhayward: If you want an Inside Sim Racing sticker for your cockpit, contact Darin at darin@isrtv.com, and we can hook you up!
I would like to thank smithhayward for showing off this awesome cockpit, and I hope to see more as to how this setup will progress in the future!
Remember, if you want your setup to be featured on our website, you can post your setup on the ISRTV forums. You can meet some great people in our community, and get some advice on how to create an awesome rig!
