Hardware Highlight: Sim Dash Under $25

I was making my rounds on YouTube today, and I found a rather interesting video. Rich from Pitlanes.com had posted a video showcasing his Arduino-based dashboard. Most notably, the price of the unit was only £14, which is approximately $24 USD.

The dash is fairly minimal, but features a full 8-digit 8-light scheme. The dash is compatible with rFactor 1/2, Assetto Corsa, iRacing, and Project CARS. This dash could definitely be great for the racer on a budget, or just someone wanting a fun DIY project to do!

  1. Nice I have this hardware, but never put it together yet. Cool to see that the software is supporting more than iRacing now.

  2. We have had a very lengthy discussion on this setup for quite some time in our forums, including many variations with multiple displays and a rather slick user interface for people not interested in learning to program an arduino.

Once you get hooked you will want to check out some of the other arduino/sim racing projects people have cobbled together over the years.

    1. A massive +1 to this. That’s the initial thread where I found out about this and this just seemed like a natural extension.

If an iRacing-only driver, the threads above are jammed full of all the info you need.

  3. Interested to see the rest of the info and projects.
Can somebody host this at another site.
You need to have an Iracing account to access the links.

    1. http://fergotech.net/ has some of the projects on it, but really you should nab a 30 day trial of iRacing and see for yourself. I posted a project to turn a leonardo into a joystick and some off topic code to convert your guitar hero drum kit into a midi drum set. There are other projects that built there own dash or drove physical gauges with an arduino. And of course the best one is the wind simulator that blows air in your face based on velocity! 🙂

I’m still waiting for someone to make a miniature flag man and wind sock that dances around based on what is going on in the sim.
