Codemasters have released a small – but critical – update in the development of DiRT Rally, patch v0.4.5 featuring new force feedback. Codemasters says that the force feedback was developed based off of user comments since launch, continuing their refreshing new approach of giving sim leaning customers what they want.
What’s nice about the force feedback is it isn’t of the one type fits all variety. Variables like steering deadzone, saturation and linearity can be adjusted in-game. In fact, there could be a good amount of adjusting based on which car you’re driving and how much steering lock it has. A detail explanation of the force feedback setup and options can be found in the latest edition of the Codies Blog.
By this point you’re probably pretty pumped up about this update but there is one catch. Not all wheels are supported yet… The current supported wheel list is below. Codemasters says this list will continue to be expanded, so don’t be too worried if your wheel isn’t on it yet. At their current pace of development, I’m sure it’ll be added much sooner than later.
- Logitech Driving Force GT
- Logitech Driving Force Pro
- Logitech Formula Force EX
- Thrustmaster T500 RS Racing Wheel
- Thrustmaster T500 RS F1 Racing Wheel
- Thrustmaster T300 RS
- Thrustmaster TX 458
- Thrustmaster Ferrari F430 FFB
- Fanatec CSR Elite Wheel
- Logitech MOMO Racing Wheel (keyboard required for some controls)
- Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel (keyboard required for some controls)
If you haven’t purchased DiRT Rally on Steam Early Access yet, you can get in today for only $26.24 thanks to the Steam 25% off Summer Sale.

That is encouraging, because the handling sucked before. Off to Pike’s Peak…
Well it is better.
Certainly a step in the right direction !
I don’t think any game will be able to kick RBR of the top spot. But Dirt Rally is closest to it at the moment.
WRC5 is arcade full stop. SLRE looks like a 50-75% arcade game for now IMO.
WRC5 and SLRE are just horrible arcade crap IMHO !
Definitely better. I can actually countersteer now.
for the ones who think its bad.. Try setting your wheel to 320 degrees instead of 900.. Made huge diff for me..
Try this. Makes a world of difference. http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/nerve-enhanced-ffb-for-dirt-rally-0-45.107573/
