After a strong second half of 2014, Sector3 decided some teasing was the best way to finish out the year. No it’s not a mean spirited tease, its a laser scanned image of the Nordscheife! Quick, someone queue up the “it’s happening” meme!
Yes, Sector3 plans to throw down with the best of the best in 2015. While releasing the Nordschleife is a big deal – especially to some of you – I think the bigger deal is the investment into laser scanning. Now, Sector3 said they are “investigating” new technologies but I don’t know why they wouldn’t pull the trigger on it. As iRacing – and now Assetto Corsa – have shown, people want laser scanning. And who can blame them, laser scanned tracks just have a feeling that non-laser scanned tracks can never emulate.
I know I’ve been praising the hell out of Sector3 the past couple of months – and you’re probably tired of it – but the turn around this year has been massive. RaceRoom Racing Experience (R3E) has transformed from a hot mess – content and pay structure wise – to a formidable title.
Competition breeds innovation, which breeds lots of awesome things for us customers. I’m sure an investment in a laser scanner will continue the ascension of R3E and that makes me very happy.

S3S continues to impress. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the Green Hell but I’ll be getting it anyway. Too historic a track to pass up.
Nordschleife is a personal favorite of mine. It is a difficult track to run races on, but with Sector3’s online racing, it might just work well. The practice and qually time then the race. Would be nice to see some races in there.
